Why reclaiming your voice and vision is the key to beginning again with courage

We’ve all had seasons where life knocks us sideways. A change in health, a loss, or simply the weight of carrying too much can leave us wondering: How do I start again?

This week on The Creative Connection Podcast, I had the honor of speaking with Pamela Miles — a former pastor, advocate, artist, and survivor — whose story is a powerful reminder that starting fresh is not failure. It’s courage.

Reclaiming Your Voice

Pamela’s shared her journey and showed us how we can reclaim our voice by stepping out of the noise of others talking over us. She shared that this is indeed the first step in reclaiming our life. For her, artistry, advocacy for youth, and storytelling became a way to heal, to connect, and to lead from her authentic self.

Her story resonated deeply with me. Like Pamela, I’ve faced times when doubt and old narratives told me to stay small. But each time I and we choose to speak up, step forward, and begin again moves us closer to aligning with our truest self.

Leading Through Change

True leadership doesn’t come from a title — it comes from authenticity. Pamela reminded us that leading through change requires clarity, courage, and the willingness to live from what really matters.

Leading in our lives, careers, and in our communities is not easy. Change asks us to let go of what we thought was certain. It asks us to pause and breath through resistance and pain. When we pause and breathe into the moment, we often discover that our voice, body, and spirit will lead the way forward.

The Role of Community and Creativity

Pamela also reminded us of the healing power of creativity and community. Her art became both an outlet and a doorway into deeper connection — proof that creativity isn’t just self-expression, it’s survival and renewal. In the deeper connection we find ourselves and a since of belonging.

This combination of creativity, community and connection is why I created the Rooted in You Circle. We were never meant to navigate life let alone, change by ourselves. Circles give us space to pause, to be witnessed, and to rediscover our voice with support at our side. To find out more visit, this link.

A Reflection for You

Today I invite you to ask yourself:

👉 Where in your life are you being invited to reclaim your voice and begin again?

It might be a career shift, a creative dream, or simply saying “yes” to yourself after years of saying no.

Step Into Your Next Beginning

If Pamela’s story inspired you, I encourage you to listen to the full episode of The Creative Connection Podcast.

And if you’re ready to take the next step yourself, the Rooted in You Circle begins September 24. This is a trusted space to pause, reconnect, and move forward with clarity, courage, and connection.

✨ Beginning again is not a setback — it’s your invitation to live from your truest self.
